Working with Simbu is a Joy

“Love of literature runs in the family,” laughs cinematographer Saravanan, who turns director with the Silambarasan starrer Silambattam. Son of well-known yesteryear lyricist Ulundurpettai Shanmugham, Saravanan has been an avid reader even from the age of eight.

Naturally storytelling is the next step. Though he has done about 25 films as a cameraman, direction has been a passion. When he decided to go commercial for his debut venture, he needed a popular hero and Simbu filled the bill.

“My screenplay will make the difference,” says Saravanan. He finds working with Simbu a joy. “He keenly observes, enjoys and appreciates your work that you want to give your best,” he adds.
